Arnes Data Center Maribor
On May 6, 2025, we proudly took part in the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone for the new Arnes Data Center Maribor. The event was led by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr. Robert Golob, together with the Minister for Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Dr. Igor Papič, and the Director of the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia (Arnes), Marko Bonač.
Within the project, which has a total estimated value of €150 million, our company has been chosen to deliver the data center. As the lead partner in a consortium with Advant and Energovat, we are responsible for the design, construction, implementation, and maintenance of the data center and its technological infrastructure. The center is expected to begin test operations in August 2026.
Arnes Data Center Maribor will be integrated into the EuroHPC pan-European AI Factory network and will serve as a core infrastructure node for open science, high-performance computing, and national-scale AI workloads alongside AI factories from 12 other EU member states. All 13 selected locations will form an interconnected network of AI nodes designed to support AI-driven innovation across Europe. In addition, the Maribor data center will play a vital role in Slovenia’s national open science infrastructure, enabling long-term storage of open research data.
One of project’s key components is sustainability. Strategically located within the Dravske Elektrarne Maribor complex, the facility will benefit from a direct feed to the nearby Mariborski Otok hydroelectric power plant, ensuring clean, high-availability power with minimal transmission loss. To further enhance its energy profile, a rooftop photovoltaic system is also planned, supporting the center’s sustainability goals. Advanced power and cooling systems will ensure high energy efficiency.
We are honored that our consortium was selected to execute this project — not only as a testament to our technical capabilities but also as a recognition of the depth of Slovenian engineering and innovation. As one of the pioneers of next-generation data center design in Slovenia, our track record includes advanced deployments for HPC and AI workloads, including the Vega supercomputer facility. These projects are rooted in in-house R&D and validated by successful implementations across domestic and international markets. We’re proud to be recognized by Arnes and the Government of Slovenia as a trusted partner capable of driving forward the country’s digital infrastructure and AI readiness at scale, thus efficiently driving the Slovenia’s digital transformation.
